On 13 April 2023 the Attorney-General’s Department released a Public Consultation Paper seeking public submissions by 25 April 2023 regarding the implementation of a National Firearms Register (Register). The purpose of that paper was to obtain public input on the key capabilities and benefits a Register could provide for law enforcement, government regulators, and the public.
